1. SUNNY DAY SETS FIRE
I've slightly fallen for this band in a way that's difficult to explain
But they are brilliant even though their band name sucks.
2. TEGAN AND SARA
The ridiculously early stage time of 9pm (!) meant we missed Northern State but got there a few songs in for le twins and loitered at the back. For some reason I looked over my shoulder and nearly dropped my pint. It was Leisha Hailey (aka AlicefromtheLword) stood right behind me. I broke gig etiquette and asked her for a photo which she refused with grace and dignity, turns out she wanted to meet someone I work with and so I spent the rest of the gig ducking into the toilet making and taking phonecalls. What I heard of the gig was alright, though I've only got their last album and it all seemed pretty rockin' and missing the delicate piano ones I like.
3. ROISIN MURPHY
Musically, pretty good, say A-, with the best song being Moviestar (in the background the meaning of the song was made slightly clearer. It's about diy porno) but frankly everyone was there for the ridiculous outfits. She had some nice hats, pointy shoulder attachments and made a token effort to 'change' for each song, but there was nothing grand or spectacular like wot she has on the covers. Though she certainly had more stage presence than Andrew Butler who was literally no where to be seen.
