Plugs + We Have Band (+ Abba)

Not bad. Shoddy write up thrown over here.

People that don't know me very well sometimes assume that I'm a snobby indie kid (its not an unfair assumption) and are taken aback when i profess my love for Abba. Well, thanks to Spotify I've had a massive binge this weekend. Once you get past the Abba Gold tracks which are admittedly overplayed and have become through no fault of their own annoying - apart from Dancing Queen which is just annoying, there's some incredible songs. There are totally absurd funny songs (Tiger, When I Kissed The Teacher, Dum Dum Diddle) there are incredible electro pop songs that make up my current top three Abba songs (The Day Before You Came, Under Attack, Head Over Heels) and then there are the big boo-hoo ballads which i can only listen to in private lest i come over all emo (Slipping Through My Fingers, One Of Us, The Winner Takes It All). There are so many other songs which manage to fall in all of those categories at the same time... When i work it out i'll add in my top twenty Abba spotify list.

For Londoners

it makes the millenium bridge look kinda pointless

For The 'Rents

Mum, i think you'd hate lots of it. NY is huge is so many way. Pops would probably love it. Some crazy kid has reprogrammed the street signs, another one said 'PARTY AT JULIA'S 2NITE' but I would've got run over taking a picture of it. No one just says 'sorry' it's always 'I'm Sorry'.

For Mezza

For Len

I'm the luckiest guy...

For Thomas and The Hidden Cameras

How Much Is That Puppy In The Window?

So you cant really tell from these shots as the little buggers were moving around so quickly. One of them was trying to scratch my camera against the glass.

This is for Ronan. There are other photopresents coming for others, but my camera ran out of juice...

Scooter LaForge - the shirt off his back

I'll hopefully get some more proper NY picture posts up. I'm near Christopher Street, they have pet shops with cute puppies in the window going insane and trying to eat eachother.

Oh, hai....

so i havent updated here in a while, ive been twittering, so heres a little more depth:

Berlin. i am in love. once London has dried up i am definitely moving there next, i cant imagine anywhere else in the UK i'd want to live in. If you go, check out the bar silver future it's amazing, like Bar Wotever if it was a proper bar, open late and full of hot berliners.

I went to a rubbish play at The Arcola, i listened to a pagan lecture about Edward Carpenter and have been rehearsing. We have a super exciting cover version of The Prodigy planned...

diary dates next week:

Thurs: La Roux @ Yo yo, notting hill arts cenre.

Fri: Sunny Day Sets Fire, some cafe just off dalston lane.

Sat: Ship Ahoy! feat. Jean Genet, in Manchester.

Phew. And theres exciting stuff i wanna talk about Gentleman Reg, Hunx & his Punx and LLGFF (including JG's documentary film debut, eek!) but yeah, busy times ahead...

Sometimes...

Just to cheer myself up a little bit, I take a look* at the horrendous gay artwork here:

http://www.adonisartgallery.com

[is it safe for work? depends where you work. I'd say, 'semi']

And I have a little think to myself about taking up painting.

Finger painting.

I Get Around

Ah, Dragonette. Nevermind.

So I'm gonna be here there and everywhere for the next few months. Economic Crisis? Pah! In. Your. Face.

12th - 16th Feb = Berlin.

12th - 22nd March = New York.

Much excitement. If there's anything i should be doing, let me know. Ask me on a date or something. Did you know according to some press release by some god awful dating company, the 31st January is supposed to be the day most singletons go on a date. Thankfully its my friends birthday, skillfully avoiding that statistical indignity. Pah.

Enough to make you cry

So i was thinking about seeing DAVID RYDER PRANGLEY AND THE WITCHES until i found their myspace and heard some of the songs.

Jesus Wept. The Lord wept. Even the Holy Spirit shed a metaphysical tear. The Whole Holy Trinity, SODDEN WET WITH TEARS.

The tagged photos are particularly tragic, especially the fan sketch from 2003. This must've been from their spectacularly underwhelming reunion tour where Rachel Stamp played to around 35 people in Royal Park Cellar in Leeds. Which made the whole Data Panik thing look rather respectable. Another little piece of teenage bob has just died.

Entertainment can sometimes be hard

So i spent all day pottering around tidying my room washing sheets etc and listening to the new Fischerspooner album Entertainment. At the risk of this turning into a fan blog, here's a picture:

Nice hat, etc.

The album is pretty much business as usual, with no immediate stand out tracks except Money Can't Dance, which has epic string stabs in it that are brilliant, and Best Revenge which seems to have been out for ages. Its still all pretty good.

FREE MILKE FOR COOL KIDS

designer drugs remix innit

Milk vs Milke

MILK the film was amazing and made me cry, i sat right next to my editor and we both left sniveling. I probably would've sobbed uncontrollably if i were alone. Gay Pride: 10/10

MILKE
the electropop outfit are releasing Love Get Out Of My Way, which is in no way tear inducing, albeit very listenable. The Designer Drugs Remix is pretty good. Gay Pride: 4/10

It's not really fair to pit a single against a film, just because they're one letter away from having the same name. sorry. will try harder.

Quick Equation

This Hair:

Plus This Jumper [in white]:

Equals...

The look Fischerspooner (Casey) was rocking last night. It was painfully Shoreditch but quite good pop music, but stupidly busy - to the point of not being able to get downstairs at the atmosphere vacuum that is 'East Village'. Ended up in The Joiners which is all you really need to know about the end of that night.

That Man:

Nice, eh? Quite fond of the Real Dolls remix.
