1. Fritz Helder & The Phantoms - Making a scene
I thought they were The Ones.
2. Sarah Whatmore - Smile (Bimbo Jones Radio Edit)
It's popjustice gay. She's off the telly or something.
3. Electrovamp - Drinks Taste Better When They're Free
It's neon pink and very Girl's Aloud album track.
4. The Homophones - Everyone's Dead
Lovely twee number off the Otto soundtrack and the only track thats not instant ear ache.
5. Hawnay Troof - Water
It's not very gay, more dirty queer. It's very good though.

My New Favourite Band
NATALIE PORTMANS SHAVED HEAD.
Stupid name, stupid lyrics, like a less punk Gravy Train. 'Beard Lust' will be on everyone's mixtape from now until I get a new favourite band. Maybe a month or so, who knows.

Let's Kiss and Listen To Bis
So it's not exactly Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above, but major kudos to Mikrofisch for wearing their influences hand stitched on their retro sleeves. See 'Drum Machines Will Save Mankind'. As long as Mankind never has to leave their bedroom.
It looks like you can download all their stuff here. It's the old 'if you like bis, do it, if you don't, don't' routine.

USB schtick
Tonight is Unskinny Bop in London Town.
Madonna is 50 apparently.
There will be madge homage at USB. I don't need much of an excuse to dress up.

The New Cazwell Single
is very funny. Repetitious, but funny. I did summat here where you can look at a pretty picture of him and the new video. I serious love the burger jumper.

Mixtape remix
if you want to spam up your inbox you can get a free Little Boots mixmp3. Its not all that, but the last ten minutes or so is pretty good and it ends on a Fake Blood remix of Stuck On Repeat which also falls into the category of 'pretty good'.

If you mix all these colours together
You get BROWN.
I don't know how NEW this New Yelle Video is, but it's new to me.

Hi Mum / Long Distance Friends
I had a throat infection, I'm still alive.
I was hoping to get back to a desk full of excitement, but there's not much. The Heartbreak single is alright if you like wanky italodisco (I say 'italodisco' i don't know if it's one word, two words or means anything other than Italian sounding. It sounds OLD.)
The Pacific! song Sunset Blvd, already very good, has some very nice remixes.
I was better off in bed.
I have since re-discovered the joy of Last.fm, typing in Kenickie and getting random hits of my teenhood played back at me, with songs I haven't played in my library for years thrown in for good measure.

About six months too late
I never really got Santogold. Whenever I heard LES Artistes, I just thought it sounded like a crap record by The Police. However I've been listening to the Graham Zilla remix which gets rid of the naff guitar, nice work. I downloaded it from somewhere but can't remember.

Lesbian Joy/Despair
I don't know where I was when this came out, but I've been obsessed with Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend for ages, so imagine my joy when I realised she'd done a version with Lil Mama. I don't think it's over stretching the sub-text to suggest that Lil Mama is suggesting she should be Avril's girlfriend. They certainly make a super cute couple, and the men in their Thelma&Louise stlye car are about as significant as a pair of fluffy dice.
Lesbianism seems to be very hot right now, or rather faux lesbianism (I used to think lipstick lesbians were ones who pulled girls to impress boys, after all it can be wiped off, etc...) Katy Perry has been pushing all the wrong buttons and it looks like Little Jackie wants a pop at it too with the awful 'Guys Like When Girls Kiss' which title aside contains gems such as "I wouldn't need to turn into a lesbian if me and the boys could just stop disagreeing". ARG! What the fuck is wrong with these people?
Oh and the Yo Majesty album is not ten different version of Club Action. :(

When Bootlegs didn't mean Mash-Ups...
So some guy recorded the magnetic fields gig I went to the other day, which is particularly handy if you're writing a review... though accusing The Magnetic Fields of choosing 'poncier' venues shows that some of the bands less subtle nuances are probably lost on him, never mind... oh its here.

It's never easy, is it?
It's friday. "Hurrah".
Despite feeling like my body is allergic to food this week, hurling it out the nearest exit, there are still some things that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Like two lesbian rappers doing bedroom dancemoves, screeching over some 8-bit Bronski Beat.
p.s. Leeds people are probably more than aware they are playing at the common place on 26th, I'm holding out for a London appearance on the 30th...

On the subject of Zeitgeist-iness

Seems to be a running theme this week. Has anyone else noticed how much Pandas are taking over the media at the moment? Talking with a heffy friend, obviously they're news worthy in that their connubial relations should be at hammer and tongs [ive been sick and spent all yesterday watching the entire second series of Kath And Kim, its practically medicinal] but I wonder how much of it is down to the people behind KUNG FU PANDA trying make people think about the film. I mean I have, if only in a cynical way. Oh and it's beginning to put me off getting a tattoo - those that know me will know I've been toying with the idea of getting a cartoon panda tattoo, but I'm not so sure now...

If you couldn't give a shit about a new Kylie Video
how bout an old one? [by Zeigeist]
which came out about 2 years ago. Still, 3 years after the Motormark POP-UP sleeve.

Also...
on first listen the new Bloc Party single Mercury sounds like an indie version of 4 Minutes. [i.e. its got a bit of brass on it]
Is it just me or....
Despite being a usual wank-em-out Kitune electro dance number, the new autoKratz single Stay The Same is regularly on the verge of breaking out into the 'running just as fast as we can' bit of Tiffany's I Think We're Alone Now.
listen if you like that sort of thing

Thomas Tantrum
Having listened to them all weekend I can say they are literally Quite Good. They are indulging in some giggery at the old blue last tomorrow. What do they look like?

Zeitgeisty.

Just when you thought things couldnt get any worse
Scanning through the free papers this week on the way home, the world is not a happy place. People are literally being stabbed on the streets, no one gives a toss about the environment and Amy Winehouse has taken up djing.
And then there's this:
And then there's this:

The new Tilly And The Wall B-side...
... is practically a Jean Genet song we never got round to finishing. They've done it a million times better, obviously. It's called Too Excited and the chorus goes "Well I say BOO HOO / And I say FUCK YOU".
P.S I'm attempting to update this blog everyday day at 9am with one piece of short trivia. For atleast one more week.

Cock Rockin Beats
Remember Tiger Tunes, the danish band who haven't done anything for ages.
Well they've been making bloody awful cock rock. They're called Beta Satan.
FYI, Magnetic Fields on weds were amazing, but not as amazing as last time. On the edge of tears, rather than blubbing like a 4 year old.

Boo Hoo
the Jay Brannan album is zzzzo boring. i think i'm too riddled with my own self pity to listen to someone else sing harmoniously about half boyfriends, having no money and boys that won't text back. At least Robyn's my-ex-is-tying-someone-else-shoelaces Schtick has some decent pop backing. Brannan didnt even put Sodapop on.
